A CHURCH IN WARRINGTON SINCE 1904

St. Paul’s had its beginnings in the person of Anna Cozens, who was a teacher in a one room school house. She called a “preacher”, Rev. Wilmer L. Gray, from Willow Grove, to establish a congregation in Warrington. In 1904, the congregation built a small church building which was named Neshaminy Methodist Episcopal Chapel. After Anna’s death, it was renamed Cozens Memorial Methodist Church.

In the early 60’s, there was a need for a larger church because of the industrial and residential expansion in Central Bucks County. In 1963 the Philadelphia Annual Conference of the Methodist Church, in cooperation with Cozens congregation, purchased 5 ½ acres in Palomino Farms.

Ground breaking services were held on Sunday, October 13, 1965 and the cornerstone was laid on May 22, 1966. The new facility was occupied for worship and church school on June 26, 1966 under the present name – St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

The bell from Cozens Church is rung proudly each Sunday since its placement in the bell tower of the new sanctuary.

St. Paul’s Pre-School Center was established at the church, and has been serving the community since 1967.

The church and the community grew and so did the need for worship and classroom space. In 1983 a sanctuary was built along with a half-gym and several classrooms.

Growth continued so that another educational wing was added in 1991 with classrooms, kitchen and office space to be used by the church school, the community, and the Pre-School.

Gifts have been bestowed by the Lord, over many years, to the congregation of St. Paul’s. This has helped us to work together and given us unity of purpose to serve Him now and in the future.
